DRT International is proud to announce that they will begin offering new service to Colombia. This means service to the ports of Cartagena, Barranquilla, and 7 others.
Cartagena is Colombia’s largest import/export location by far. It is known as the “Gateway to the Americas” because of it’s large shipping industry and well placed location. Aside from Barranquilla, some of the other smaller ports are: Buenaventura, Santa Marta, Puerto Bolivar and Coveñas.
The International Trade Commission estimates the trade agreement will expand U.S. product exports by over $1.1 billion and support thousands of new jobs in the United States, and poised to create over 300,000 jobs in Colombia in the next few years, says President Juan Manuel Santos .
One of the largest impacts may be felt in South Florida. That region tallied 8.3 Billion last year in trades with Colombia, and that number is expected to rise with the Trade Act’s agreement. It is expected that 6,400 jobs annually will be created in Florida and equate to about a 13.8 percent increase in revenue. DRT expects to be a main contributor to this, and to provide service between the U.S. and Colombia for many years to come.
